Greeted by not being greeted and seated at all this Off the beaten path Asian cuisine buffet left much to be desired. The first words we heard were, "we close in 30 mins". Needless to say the food left much to be desired and I don't recommend anyone to come back, but since you will come anyway, come early. Maybe your service will be a lot better.

Cheap sushi buffet for less than $10? I thought it was too good to be true... and it was. My husband kept wondering how this place stays solvent, and apparently it's by tricking people like us (and drunk college students) into coming for the buffet. You pay $10, load up your plate fully intending to eat several more plates filled with food... and you stop after one, thereby making the restaurant profitable. The sushi here is pretty inedible, and much of the Chinese food consists of breaded mystery meat. The desserts are just as bad - little blocks of cake-like substance and cookies that appeared store-bought. I'd skip this one and spend a bit more on one of the other sushi buffets in town. The reason why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because we came at 5:30 pm. People were starting to pile in around 6, so it could be that the food we had wasn't replaced since lunch. Freshly made, the sushi may be decent. I don't plan to come back to find out, though.

Why do restaurants in Miami insist on combining Chinese & Japanese cuisines? That's like saying a restaurant is Polish/Mexican. These are 2 very distinct cultures with very distinct cuisines. I'll review these separately: Japanese/Sushi - meh - they don't put much wasabi in anything) - bland - questionable on the freshness Chinese - I hardly noticed Chinese food (stuffed cream cheese Rangoon are an American bar food) - fried foods - no real Chinese dishes I realize this is a "cheap eat" and you aren't going to get top-notch in Miami at a cheap eat. But, having grown up in CA, where I can eat some of the best Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai (all SEPARATE cuisines and restaurants) for under $10/person this was an abomination. The only reason this is 2 stars instead of 1 is because it's Miami... And I've set the bar lower for Asian restaurants in Miami.

Starting on Monday 4/14/2014 - The buffet will be closed. However, you can still eat in a la carte, take out, or order delivery.

I stumbled upon this joint 5-6 years ago, and what keeps me coming back at least every other month is not the 80's decor or the tacky blue tile roof but what really matters: the consistently fresh, always delicious SUSHI!!! This no-frills place can be counted on for truly amazing food, every single time - at an equally amazing low price. While it's true the desserts are nothing to write home about, you don't go to a sushi restaurant for a good piece of coconut cake but rather for the main course, which is prepared fresh and scrumptious - and it's all you can eat! Deeeeelish... :-P

OMG. So LUCKILY I randomly found this place online when I was craving Chinese food last night. Still desperately on my search for good greasy cheap Chinese food that comes by the truck load I happened upon Tien Kue Inn. YUMMYYYYY The prices can't be beat and the portion sizes you get are verging on ridiculous! I ordered for myself (Orange Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein) and my roomie happened to come home I invited him to share and I think off of leftovers alone I will be able to eat for DAYS!!! I haven't been to this establishment but based on what showed up at my door I must say OMG yum yum yummmmmmmmm

On May 30th Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to check out this restaurant that I saw on my way to a job interview in the gables. This restaurant is right off of 28th avenue and 22 street which is the same as Coral way/ Miracle Mile. Upon first notice we park in the mini area right beside the restaurant. Not too many spaces for parking and left us wondering if there were more spaces somewhere else. We walked in and noticed there was a hostess station and a small enclosed area in the front where we assume most would pay at checkout. A girl came from the checkout station to the hostes station to ask us how many were in our group. 2 we stated and were quickly seated in a booth. The area for the booth seating seemed a bit tight and most other tables were empty. They seem to fill up as the night goes on. The sushi we found was worth the ten dollar charge. The plates are huge and there are many stations. 1 sushi station where one can get as much sushi rolls to include a mexican, a jb, california and other variations to include sashimi on top and avocado on top. The station for chinese did not seem to have prepared foods at regulated tempuratures and we found many items cold. The soup station had a miso soup, wonton, egg drop and hot and sour soup. The soups were hot but not very flavorfull. The desert station was like any other chinese dessert station except it looked a little scarce. The same with the seafood portions that were on ice. When we arrived I thought I noticed crab leggs and muscles but upon second plate, the crab leggs disapeared. They had ice cream you could scoop yourself along with other deserts like cake and cookies but very small pieces. We opted to have desert elsewhere. I gave this restaurant an A-ok because what more could you expect for 10 dollars. The atmosphere I found ok and the guests mostly consisted of hispanic folk probably from little havana which is not far. The place never got packed and only 5-7 tables were filled the entire time we were there from 7:30-9pm

Sorry but this place was a huge let down...I could deal with the depressing decor if the food was half decent....I dont think you could pay me to eat here....blah

I order from this place all the time. It is by far the best Chinese restaurtant. I've only been to the place once to try the buffet and for $10 you can't beat that. The food is always great and the staff is nice. I once called after they had closed and the drive was leaving home, yet they still took my order and delivered fast! RECOMMEND!!

The food is ok but for the price it is definitely worth it. Don't go expecting A+ sushi. There is a lot of variety and the rolls are pretty decent. The chinese food is ok but still hits the spot. Not to mention they have an endless supply of fortune cookies!

Very nice place.......6th time here. Consistent. For $10, what a great meal. Good variety of Japanese and Chinese. Fresh cooked options from shrimp/chicken/beef Habachi, to a selection of sushi rolls. Staff are friendly and hospitable. Have a hot sake and a Japanese beer and enjoy some good fresh food. It's not the Ritz, but very good. I have worked on cruise ships for almost 8 years....I know good food. If I wasn't gong to the gym every day I would weight 900 pounds.

Need cheap and fast? TKI is the place for you. Food is sub-par, but the fact that it's dirt cheap makes up for it. Delivery is significantly fast if you live within a mile of it, although I recommend picking it up as it will probably be faster on busier days. The restaurant itself is raunchy and I seriously do not recommend dining in as it is a sore sight. It's been a little hidden delivery gem for those of us which are trying to lighten the load on our wallets. Pros- Decent Food Cheap Fast delivery Cons- Dine in sucks The restaurant reeks of garbage in the parking lot due to open waste containers.

I'm writing this review on a memory. Tien Kue was our favorite place to get Chinese food when we went to visit my grandparents in Florida. And my grandmother would freeze the food and pack it on ice whenever she came to visit us in Colorado. I can still taste the egg drop soup and pork fried rice. I'm sure things have changed now, 20 years later, but isn't it nice to have such a wonderful memory of a restaurant?

The place has now been completely renovated as a nice modern dine-in venue complete with bar service. The dishes are authentic with exotic spin on the texture and presentation. I had the roast duck dish, and it's unparalleled to anything I have tasted in South Florida. Looking forward to returning for other dishes!

I have been using their delivery service for years. Never had an issue. Fast and accurate as can be. Even their delivery driver was friendly as well. After the new management took over, things have changed. My last three orders have been disastrous. The food has been different ( not in a good way) and the portions have changed drastically (in a disrespectful way). I really have a thing about stale Orange Chicken when I'm ordering and paying for fresh food. The fried rice I have received has been drowned in soy sauce. Dark and greasy. I would like to add the soy sauce myself to my taste not the chef's. How can you get this wrong? It's a shame because this restaurant used to be my favorite.

Under new management, the exterior and interior have been renovated and much improved. It doesn't have the buffet anymore, instead focusing on Chinese cuisine. The food selection, portion, service and price are all top notch. I had the Hong Kong style lobster and it was very tasty. Would definitely come back again.

Tien Kue Inn is my guilty pleasure-- 4.5 stars. The place is decked out in very unattractive décor and drab paint, and it looks like the type of place you would be afraid to take a first date because he or she would probably end up with a confused look on their face, but the food here is phenomenal-- in a somewhat oily, less MSG than most places type of way. I highly recommend the potstickers, ribs, chicken (you can put honey or sweet and sour sauce on them), and cream cheese rangoons that you can get unlimited at the buffet. They are very savory. If you want something healthy, there is salad and peanut dressing sauce at the section in the middle of the buffet over the ice. The sushi section is also nice and comes with variety. The food here easily earns 5 stars because of the cheap $11 price, but they just need to fix up the interior. If they gave the place a nice paint job in a base type of color and invited more natural lighting, this place would be one of the best Asian buffets in Miami because it is just so cheap. However, if they did that, there honestly would be no parking because the parking lot is already small as is.

This restaurant have one price on menu, an another high in the cashier, I order for take out small order fried rice, and they want charge extra after I will paid with my credit card. When see that I cancel the order, no wonder restaurant is empy5

Looks can be deceiving, and the interior and exterior of Tien Kue Inn Restaurant can be misleading. The place definitely needs a renovation together with a change in color because the interior looked very worn out and outdated. At the outside, you have a splash of graffiti on the sign, but what makes up for this drag appearance is the delicious food. The sushi section is okay, but the dumplings, chicken, and ribs, are delicious! I highly recommend trying the dumpling with wazu sauce. I will definitely come here again because as all the other Yelpers said, the place is "a cheap eat" and "you definitely get a bang for your buck". And the adventure continues...

Craving sushi but don't want to break the bank? T.K.I. to the rescue if you're just looking to get in and out and don't care about quality. At $11.95 for an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet you can't expect much. Yes, there is some scary stuff that's been sitting out for who knows how long but there are a few decent options on the buffet, especially if you catch the rolls right when the chef puts them out. Start with the miso soup and some fresh tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and carrot ginger dressing from the salad bar. Then there is a selection of about 20-30 maki rolls and nigiri. All white rice, heavy on the cream cheese and mayo. The rolls are labeled, which is helpful. The dragon roll as well as the eel roll were decent, especially with the eel sauce they serve on the side. There was a tempura fried roll with crab salad in the middle that was also pretty good. It had a funky name that I don't recall. The eel nigiri was also edible, that was pretty much it for sushi. At the end of the sushi bar (they should put this stuff up front) were wakame salad and a very nice jicama salad. Both were fresh. The jicama was nice and crunchy and very lightly pickled. Simple and delicious. The hot food is mostly crap. Meats aren't labeled, it's all breaded and fried and oddly shaped so you really don't know what you're biting into. The crab rangoon was decent and there was some nice bright green, crunchy, garlicky broccoli. I bit into what appeared to be a fried shrimp, as it had a shrimp tail at the end but it was some unidentifiable minced white meat inside the batter. It tasted like a mystery mix of crab and chicken. I haven't had chicken in 2 years (by choice) so that was scary. Desserts are also bad. There is an ice cream cooler I didn't bother looking into. There was a small selection of coconut cake, butter cookies, strawberry cake, brownies and a mandarin orange cake. They were all dried out and tasted stale, downright rancid, like boxed cake made with vegetable shortening that is well past it's shelf life. The only edible and actually quite good dessert was the mandarin orange cake, which had a nice citrusy mousse layer. Then of course are the sesame balls with red bean paste in the center on the hot buffet. I love anything sesame, so I had three as dessert. If you're looking for quality you won't find it here. You're better off spending double and heading to P.O.C. where there is a constant supply of fresh sushi and sashimi. But also be prepared to struggle your way through some very pushy obese people at P.O.C. You don't want to get in their way when they're hungry! At Tien Kue Inn you pretty much have the place to yourself.

Hong Kong cuisine? Certainly not. I've been there. It was poorly prepared typical American Chinese food.(Did I really hear someone order chop suey!) One of the dishes was pork with black beans. The pork was roast pork, not fresh pork and so overcooked that we couldn't eat it. The red and green peppers were the only fresh part of the dish. The fried wontons were overcooked as well. The only dish that we enjoyed was the salt and pepper shrimp. Another restaurant to be crossed off the list.

I was craving sushi but didn't want to spend a lot of money and happened to stumble upon Tien Kue Inn. Pricing was not bad, didn't have to wait very long for delivery and sushi was pretty decent. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

That I haven't written a review for Tien Kue yet is probably criminal on some level. I've been going here for...I don't know...probably since I was a teenager. Tien Kue is the ONLY sushi buffet I'll eat which is saying a bit since I'm not fan of buffet food in general nor sushi buffet in specific. I also get delivery from here ALL THE TIME. I can't recommend it enough. The sushi and the Chinese food on buffet is fresh and, obviously, if you get delivery, it's made to order. The price is hardly beatable for the quality. Tien Kue is a total staple of the area and has been for as long as I can remember. I don't really like Chinese food but I love their schezwan eggplant which mind you they haven't carried for four or five years at this point but I still dream of fondly. The sushi is your standard fare and I'm a particular fan of the volcano roll here (but only by delivery since the portion is generous as all get out and the freshness is optimal).

Went here yesterday...completely sucked! No selection as far as hot food not really a seafood fan so I usually stick to the basics. But even the rice had shrimp. The food tasted like it had been there for days. Will never come back to the place. The service was also terrible the workers were just sitting around as if they were on break. The parking lot also stinks as it is right by the trash. Never again! Much rather pay the extra and go to Kyojin...way better.

Out of 5 stars: Food 3 Service 5 Price 5 (cheap!) And the price and service make it worth the trip. The sushi is made fresh, but the buffet is limited. You can also order a la carte. I come here once a week with the family if we are running late from work, cheap dinner and everyone is happy.

though i make fun of their pink sauce im not gonna give them a horrid review, just an honest one from the one time i have gone (keep in mind i dont think it fare to pass judgement on a one time visit but i doubt ill be going back) the food is not realy that bad, i mean for ten bux or so you get a whole all you can eat jap. buffet, you cant not compare the quality of this food to a reg sit down sushi retstaurant but for what it is its not bad the servers might not know english and forget to pass by, but the guys behind the buffet line are nice and so is the greeter, i realy think my favorite part was the fortune cookie woot! im holding back from saying mean things but it def doesnt compare to other sushi buff. iv been to.

The service it's ok but the food it's disgusting. NOT FRESH AT ALL specially the sushi! Went there a couple weeks ago and as I was eating a piece of sushi I found a small aluminum witch it look like it was from an aluminum polish they use to clean. I show it to the waitress and she did anything, didn't even apologize! I ended up paying without eating and so disappointed. NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN AND DON'T RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE.

Following the trend, I am to also reinforce that this is an all you can eat $10 buffet. However, to add on, this $10 dollars also allows you unlimited sushi rolls of a selection that extends a good yard and a half. On top of which you're able to request specific sushi rolls. I'm not a fan of sushi, but three of my friends who are have verified that in terms of quality it ranges from good to decent. So if you're into sushi, I do recommend at least trying the place out; because from my experience, you sushi lovers tend to spend $10 alone on three rolls. So this place might be awesome in terms of cheapness alone. However if you're like me, don't despair. While their selection of non-sushi isn't equal, what they do have is still good; even for a picky eater like me. They even have a station where you can ask for a chef to cook you up steak, chicken or seafood to your discretion (like mixing meats and garnishes like onions and stuff). For desert time you get your basic buffet desert island, and I do mean basic. Six flavors of ice-cream, jello, pudding, and an infinite mound of fortune cookies. For things I left out, I will mention here: I did notice they have raw stuff and salad things (not a fan of either and never went with people who got the stuff), they have ready garnished bowls to fill with four different kinds of soup (another review has a list) and I don't really remember what variety of drinks they have as I always order water. All in all, I always like going to this place or suggesting it because it's a good common ground between my distaste for sushi and everyone else like for it. And for what it's worth (again $10) I've been satisfied every time I've visited.

I love it here, because I've been eating here since I was a kid. If you were Chinese, they actually do make better Chinese food.... I've eaten here for Wedding Banquet and stuff (Chinese style.. of course) It was good. I am not going to lie, the food is americanized for Americans.... It's Miami.. What can you expect? But $10 for all you can eat sushi?? I would recommend the habachi area. Made for you fresh!

Went again awhile back and got sick after eating thier food. Was very dissappointed. The staff is nice as can be, but the food seemed old. I ate this clam thing with some type of cheese on it and became very sick.

It is not news to say that there is no great Chinese restaurant here in Miami, but enough places are decent enough to enjoy a lunch or dinner at. This is one of these places. TKI is a Chinese/Japanese buffet. Japanese in that it serves sushi :-) it is only $9.95 for lunch or dinner and you really can eat as much as you want. They have different stations: soup, sushi, salad, dessert, noodles, typical Chinese fare and then during lunch I've seen them making lo mein to order at the buffet. I usually start w/an egg drop soup, but they also have won-ton soup and miso soup. And it's like you're making your own soup, b/c all the extras you'd add to the soup are right there next to the casserole for you to add as much or as little as you want. After the soup I go stuff my face w/sushi. The sushi is fresh and they're constantly putting out new ones. They have fun and different flavors (not all are California - yeii). I usually like the fancy sushi - so any other place I'll spend close to $30+ ordering just two sushi rolls - not good. Here I can have tons of different ones and the price stays low :-) yeii Move down to get two or three pieces of meat on my plate, all around a nice little pile of everything fried rice - really, you can't get picky - you are at a Chinese buffet after all. After I've eaten like the pig that I am, I finish off with some ice cream. They also have little cake-like thingies, but the ice cream there is pretty good and I just tend to stick to that. The place looks like every typical Chinese restaurant you've seen. though it's fairly big, and pretty well lit; it is also very clean. Your glass is always full, b/c the staff is always pretty attentive; and whenever you're done with one plate they take it away quickly so your table never gets to messy/over crowded. Good for lunch or whatever. It's cheap and clean. 3 stars b/c really, it's just A-OK, but good enough to make it to my "work food" list.

  • Bradshaw L.

This place has an enormous Asian buffet that is quite a great value if you can stomach the terrible cheesy decor. The food is adequate. I'm not sure that I agree with the other reviewer about the sushi but it is is always well to consider what you are eating where (but here the sushi is limited and the chefs seem competent enough and will happily discuss the food with you). The short answer is that the food is quite quality adequate and makes for good delivery. The atmosphere there is open florescent (ugh) and not at all intimate so it only gets one star, the service is mostly poor (two stars, but you are already cringing from being there) but the food gets four, especially the Chinese variety though I have not much experimented with the Japanese stuff. The Chineses things I crave in this food, like vegetable fried rice and special everything soup are fine, the result is that it makes an adequate substitute until Gourmet-Gourmet finds a new location and re-opens.

10$, all i got to say. the sushi is probably what you get elsewhere. I mean its not top notch, but is totally decent and where else could i afford to get hella conch, bbq eel, rolls, and finish it off with jello! In general I was impressed by the nigiri and less so by rolls, but dragon roll and catepillar and all that business is all the same anyway. Miso was bomb, and ginger salad dressing delicious. Also the tea was proper japanese restaurant grade tea, bancha or sencha or something. big ups da tien kue inn massiv (airhorn!!!!). Seriously though, this place is kicking, cheap, and fast with a full bar. besides the places in brickell all just overcharge your card when you're gone :(

  • Chris G.

Don't go into this place expecting amazing decor, because it's pretty old. However, for $9.95, the all-you-can-eat buffet is a great deal. Yeah, it's a mix of Chinese/Japanese stuff with a lot of the typical offerings, but the sushi does stand out here. Most buffets like this really skimp on the sushi and just give you a limited selection like California or vegetable roll. But here you can find dragon rolls, spicy tuna, J&B and a bunch of other types. It's all freshly made too. The hot food is pretty standard fare: fried rice, noodles, chicken, beef, egg rolls, various soups, etc. Nothing amazing, but it tastes fine. The definite standout is the sushi. You could have nothing but sushi and get your $9.95. Staff was also attentive and also kept my water filled.

What can you possibly say about a buffet thats $10 all you can eat. I mean you'll definetely eat your money's worth. The food was mediocre, not bad, not great!! They had a variety of different rolls, a hot station, really good soup, and a couple desserts. I would recommend this place to anyone on a budget that has a sushi craving.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
